2023 Honda Pilot

Let's Explore The New Updates of the 2023 Honda Pilot

The 2023 Honda Pilot is a midsize crossover SUV on the people hauler and suburban end of the spectrum. Thus, creature comforts are plentiful. The 2023 Pilot is also the first of the model's fourth generation, with the most obvious change being a return to boxier design cues.

Aesthetics aside, it now has a longer wheelbase and wider tracks. Alongside an even more capable off-road-oriented trim, Honda is showing that the 2023 Honda Pilot is good to go on adventures beyond paved roads.

The available 2023 trim levels are the following:

  • Sport
  • EX-L
  • TrailSport
  • Touring
  • Elite

Interior Review of the 2023 Honda Pilot

The 2023 Honda Pilot retains seating for eight (seven on the TrailSport). There is almost identical legroom on the front and second row at 41 inches and 40.8 inches. The third row makes do with 32.5 inches.

For hauling luggage and groceries, there is up to 22.4 cubic feet of room behind the 60/40 split, flat-folding third-row seats. Fold the seats down, and you get a maximum of 60.1 cubic feet behind the second row. Fold those as well and you get up to 114.3 cubic feet behind the first-row seats.

Heated front seats are standard, while the Elite includes the outboard second-row seats. Only the base model gets cloth seating. The rest receive leather options. A tri-zone automatic climate and humidity control system with air filters is also standard.

Onboard entertainment is via a 9-inch touch screen (7-inch on the Sport). This controls a 225-watt, seven-speaker sound system. The top trims have the Bose premium sound system with 12 speakers. Subwoofers are standard.

Exterior Review of the 2023 Honda Pilot

On the outside, the lines are now less slanted and more upright. After all, the 2023 Honda Pilot is not designed to get you from point A to B in record time. Instead, it gets you there comfortably and safely.

Its ground clearance of 7.3 inches makes easy work of gravel roads, small rocks, and the occasional creek. The TrailSport is a full inch higher.

Approach, breakover, and departure angles are a capable 18.3, 16, 20.3 degrees. Again, the TrailSport leads with 19.8, 19.6 and 19 degrees.

For good measure, the TrailSport also includes trim exclusive off-road features. Count on an integrated trailer hitch, underbody skid plates to protect the engine and fuel tank, and recovery points to increase capability.

The available 2023 body colors are the following:

  • Diffused Sky Blue Pearl
  • Crystal Black Pearl
  • Lunar Silver Metallic
  • Modern Steel Metallic
  • Obsidian Blue Pearl
  • Platinum White Pearl
  • Radiant Red Metallic II
  • Sonic Gray Pearl

Power and Performance of the 2023 Honda Pilot

All 2023 Honda Pilots have a 3.5-liter V6 gas engine that produces 285 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 262 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm. Smooth shifting is via a 10-speed automatic transmission.
